DEVELOPING HEALTHY HABITS EARLY

The Foundation Of A Lifelong Relationship With Food

At Key Nutrition, we believe that the foundation of a healthy diet and lifestyle is built quietly, early, and through deeply personal conversations — not lectures. Our youth nutrition work centers on developing your child’s knowledge of food, their attitudes toward eating, and their curiosity about what nourishes their body — at an age when those impressions last a lifetime.

We take a deliberately different approach to working with children. We listen first. We learn what your child likes, what they avoid, what intimidates them at the table, and what excites them. Then together we design a system that gently broadens their palate, introduces wholesome foods they will actually enjoy, and supports their growth at every stage.

According to the CDC, 1 in 5 American children — roughly 21% — is now classified as obese, and childhood obesity rates have reached record highs (NHANES, August 2021–August 2023). The decisions we make about food in childhood quietly shape the next 70 years of health. There is no better moment to start than now.

A FREE RESOURCE FOR FAMILIES

The Key Nutrition Hydration Guide For Young Athletes

Our complimentary handout for parents and youth athletes.

Young athletes have heightened fluid needs — they grow faster, sweat more, and metabolize differently than adults. Our Hydration Guide walks parents through signs of dehydration, the Pediatric Nutrition Care Manual’s evidence-based fluid recommendations (before, during, and after exercise), and practical strategies for keeping kids hydrated through the school day and on the sidelines.

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS

Rooted In Philadelphia

Key Nutrition is a proud member of the Washington Square community, and our youth nutrition work extends well beyond the office walls.

  • Local Schools & Preschools — we partner with educators to bring interactive nutrition workshops directly to classrooms, engaging children in hands-on learning around whole foods, mindful eating, and the science of nutrition for growing bodies.
  • Reading Terminal Market — Annual Family Initiative — each year we collaborate with the iconic Reading Terminal Market to lead our Family Pantry Workshop. We walk families through the market, teaching them how to build a versatile, nutritious pantry using everything available under one roof. Families leave with the tools to model positive food behaviors and prepare quick, wholesome meals together at home.
